LATEST FORECAST
DISCUSSION/ADVISORIES
Brighter skies are ahead for the 2nd half of the weekend as a weak ridge of high pressure builds into the region. It’ll be a few degrees colder compared to Saturday, but we’ll still be a little above the typical highs for early January. ( lower 30 s ) A weak low pressure wave will pass well south of the region Sunday night, bringing some cloudiness back to the area. Most places should stay dry, but a few flurries are not out of the question for areas south of the Capital Region late Sunday night. That system will quickly pull away by early Monday with clearing skies returning to the area. While a bit more in the way of cloudiness is expected to be around into the Tue-Wed time frame as a couple of upper level disturbances pass north of the region, overall things should remain relatively quiet, along with temperatures running slightly above normal. The next chance of any widespread precipitation will come in the Fri-Sat time period as a low pressure system advances towards the region at that time. Right now, this system looks to bring a mixture of precipitation types to the area, although there remains a good deal of uncertainty at this time as to how this system will ultimately evolve and track.
